Back to Basics

Happy New Year!

If you’re anything like the other billions of people in the world then you probably have a New Year’s Resolution. Whether it be losing weight or finding true love, you have proclaimed that 2016 will be your year.

And cheers to that.

I don’t want to get in the way of you accomplishing your New Year’s Resolution but I want you to consider looking at this new year in a different light. Instead of proclaiming, “new year, new me,” why not go back to the basics; back to the core of things. As the saying goes,”you can’t build a great building on a weak foundation.” Perhaps the reason why this year and the past couple of years haven’t surpassed your expectations is because you haven’t moved on from your past. Maybe you are still dealing with the fact that you didn’t get that promotion or the fact that you didn’t get the man or woman. Maybe you are still dealing with the fact that you lost a loved one. Whatever the case may be, in order to truly move forward, it is imperative that you let go. When I say getting back to basics, I mean making sure your ducks are in a row; that your I’s are dotted and T’s are crossed. Simply put, I mean making sure you’re physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually ready to go into the new year.

I am also referring to getting back to the things that are most important, the things that create a strong foundation: family, self-worth, God & spirituality, etc.

So let’s get back to the basics this new year.
